October Randoms

The monthly montage of pictures that didn't make their own post for your viewing pleasure.

October 2015:

My mom came out in the beginning of October and the 4 of us girls went out on a walk around the lake to collect leaves for our "Fall" decoration. On the way home we made a stop at Del Taco, we also picked some food up for the boys who were at Priesthood session.
On a rainy day the girls made this little rain fort to play in.
My morning buddy while Peyton is at school. She LOVES to take pictures, and is quite a ham.
Jovie loves playing with her babies and these 2 keep practicing how they will hold ours and love it.
 Silly selfies.
While the primary was practicing for their program our Sunday School was kicked out and had class in the primary room. This little lamb was staring at me, and I couldn't resist snapping a photo after class. Cutest little lamb we are lucky to be the shepherd of.
 My heart and world.
 A little afternoon stroll.
Backwards day at school for spirit week. Of course if Peyton's shirt is backward so must Jovie's be.
Wes met up with some friends on Halloween morning for a little hike. Mom stayed home and relaxed, bathed and watched Netflix. It was a marvelous morning, and they all had fun too.
Impromptu dress up at Nana and Boppie's.
And a little play-dooh that kept them occupied for over an hour. Lovin' these sweet little friends.

Here it is... the rest of September. Really it's not even events so much as just cute photos of the girls I can't stand to leave out.

I was reading to the girls one morning, and Wes snapped this.
One day my family all met together to do a 6 (I think) mile bike ride to the Soup Plantation and back. The kids did awesome. I only had one major scare when Peyton went quickly downhill towards the main street and fell over right before into the bushes.
I forget where we were coming from but this little girl still crashes from time to time.
I've always thought Peyton looked like my mom until Sandie sent this one over to me of her as a kid. Now I think she looks like both of her grandma's and very little like either or her parents.
 My favorite.... "shhhhhhh"
Me and my Peyton Pie
 One of Jovie's many selfies.
A rare cold day.... if it rains, they must wear their boots.
We watched some friends of ours and had a lot of fun playing at the park and lake.
Cousins!!! It's so fun to watch these 2, only 28 days apart but so very different in so many ways.
They took photos of each other on my phone. I found them and my heart just melted!

That's What She Said

I totally need to write down dates these were said, because I make notes in my phone of these funny things they say, and they sit on my phone for months and months and sometimes more months.

Peyton and Jovie playing....
P: Want to go to Carl's Jr and play with Carl Jr or something?
(I think we have maybe gone to Carl's Jr once since they were born BTW)

I can't remember if I wrote about this in a past post or not, but seriously this is one of my favorites. When we were in Vegas with my mom waaaay back when (I think it was April) we ordered up a pack-n-play for miss Jovie to sleep in. When it arrived that kid was stoked! She ran around telling everyone... "Look at my new cage!"

Jovie was so sad about being laid down one night and was clinging like death to me (which I may secretly love) and said, "I just want to hold you forever." It may have bought her some extra time too.

I was playing soccer with the girls in the backyard... and schooling them I might add. ;) Peyton said to me: "Mom you're really old, but really fast!"

I cut the girls sandwiches sometimes with cookie cutters.  One day I cut Peyton's in the shape of a gingerbread man to which she exclaimed, "Yeah, mine is shaped like a dead guy!" I have since come to the assumption she may have stolen that line from Despicable Me, but at the time I didn't know that, and I was dying when I heard it.

We have some friends at church who do a babysitting swap with us. Jovie saw them sitting behind us at church one day and pointed at them and said so happily, "I like them!"

I know I said this before but Jovie seriously has the cutest little voice ever. She is in the habit of saying things like "awesome, that's cool, this is beautiful, actually, well..." and because of her voice it is the funniest, cutest thing to hear. She always talks about how silly things are, and does silly voices to go along with it. She talks about how cute she was as a baby all the time too.

Peyton and Jovie do a cheer together that goes, "Whoa Sesame Street!" Instead of "open sesame". They also love doing "Rock-paper-scissor-shoot" and do it a lot on car rides.

Jovie loves to tape----paint. "Look mom, I'm taping!"

Jovie will tell me, "Say Oh my goodness to me," just so she can reply with, "I'm just kidding."

Jovie again: "I have 2 coughes-es." In reality it wasn't even a cough at all, but 2 fake hiccups.

Jovie: "Ga-ross (gross) that has worms in it! Ewwww" She also constantly (like daily) says "_____ smells like poop."

Jovie: "Mommy, do you know I love you?"

Peyton went through a stage she loved to trick us. P: "Hey look a bunny! April foooooood!" (April fools)

Jovie crying in bed. After a while I went in to cover her feet, which is why she was crying. (That girl constantly throws off her blanket and then gets mad she can't cover herself up again). I also noticed her baby doll on the ground and asked if she wanted her. Her response: "No, she's bugging me."

Speaking of funny sleeping moments... Jovie being a pill going to sleep once again was screaming for us from her bed (not for the 1st time that night) so Wes goes in and tells her she needs to go to sleep. And she says her everyday response of "but..." and whatever excuse she has that moment. This specific time is, "but I need to go potty." We take them right before they lay down, so this is an empty threat and Wes says, "no you need to go to bed." She then responds with a very well timed and well played response from Daniel Tiger of "but, if you have to go potty stop and go right away?" Which is what we tell her because she constantly waits until the last minute and then can't hold it. So, of course, she wins that round and he takes her.

Someone gave something to Jovie at the store and called her Sweetie. About 5 minutes later I called her over using her name and she quickly corrected me saying "No mommy, I sweetie like the man said."

While eating Peyton was super frustrated that the food wasn't "hitting the spot"... that is until the last bite and she pointed at a specific spot on her tummy and said, "thaaaaat hit the spot."

Jovie: "Hey mom. I like to eat boogers."

Girl's Weekend 2015: Catalina

The girl's weekend post is always so daunting. There is so much to write about and I always feel too tired to take on the task. Too much fun, too many photos, too many inside jokes. However, I feel a sub-par job is better than never actually getting around to it. So I will highlight the trip using photos as my drive:

Ready for our early boat ride. I was a little bitter about waking up so early. Kinda twisted to skip seminary teaching that day and still have to wake up in the 5 o'clock hour. Have I not mentioned Wes and I are teaching seminary this year?
The boatride over was pretty full and we didn't want to be stuck inside so we jumped on the lifevests.

We arrived on the island and couldn't check into our hotel or check our luggage. So we lugged it around for a couple of hours and did our best to keep ourselves occupied. Like eating. Is there a better way to waste time on vacation?

It was a warm day so after checking into our place we suited up for snorkeling at Hamilton's Cove... the private little beach we had all to ourselves. Lots of fish and teasing Heidi about her gift from Ned for her bravery.

The condo my mom found was amazing. The views were stupendous and it came with a golf cart we drove illegally and avoided the police at all costs... we had 1 too many people on it to be legal. Hayley jumped off a moving vehicle at one point to avoid problems.

That night we enjoyed walking around and eating at a delicious restaurant and having the best waiter ever, Matt! Oh and Billy Zane sat at the table behind us. My family wouldn't allow me to bother him during dinner for a picture.... psha!

The next morning we were up bright and early for Todd girl antics (as Hayley calls them). She doesn't quite love our need to be "doing" all the time on vacation... Roga last year for instance. But my mom had signed up 2 teams for the 1st annual Catalina Scavenger Hunt. She volunteered to sit out while me and Hayley vs. Heidi and Sarah joined in on the competition. If you know us, you know there is a little competitive blood in these veins. We were looked down on by "Smug Smiler" and the like. These 2 women walked by us and gave us the most smug look before it started only making us more determined.

Things didn't start great, we ran the wrong way on hint #1, but we made up for it in no time. How? Hitch-hiking. It was part of the "allowed" things to do in this compeition and there was no way I was running the whole thing. So we hopped on a golf cart with an older couple and rode... except sweet little Hayley who didn't realize what a hill we were hitting up... don't worry I picked her up on the ride back.

The 4 of us stuck together with only minimal bickering... to be expected. Hayley only said to me once "I will quit! I will quit right now!" Which again is hopeful. Out of the 7 teams that made it to the finals we were teams #1 and #2.

The final part was eating a balut egg.... you know, a developing duck embryo.
Hayley and Sarah took one for the team and did this part. And Hayley chose the winning key out of about a hundred in a Tupperware bin to win a trip to Hawaii, and diamonds!!! We were happy to give my mom the winnings for all the fun she gives us every year with these trips and how much we just love that lady!!!

Her diamond necklace.....
We met some new friends during the race who we saw again at the film festival that was happening later that night. And just thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
My Georgia friends who were from a cruise stopping there that drove us around... they were the reason we won!
Winners! At this point we were just so happy to be done. It was hot, it felt like we had been running up and down hills all day, and let's be honest.... I am in no shape for that. But we did it... all credit to Hayley, there is no way I could have eaten that egg. I was literally gagging watching her.

We went back... got cleaned up for dinner and the film festival happening that night. We even managed to get V.I.P. tickets that day. Although with how small the event was, I can't say I am totally surprised.

And we can't forget "deer glen" on our way back to the condo each night there were about 16 deer surrounding us and walking up to us. Chauffeur Heidi thought it was hilarious to freak us out by letting them come right up...eeeeks, who knew deer could be so freaky?!

Sunday our final day my mom, Heidi and Sarah woke up early to do a long hike to the top of the island. Hayley and I felt we had done enough and opted to stay in the nice bed, watching TV, and eating junk together while napping. I think we chose wisely.
We ate ice-cream or frozen bananas again... for about the 3 or 4 time of the trip and got ready to leave for the day. However, I did spot Lucas Till who had been spotlighted at the festival the night before. I had to get my picture this time.
After eating and shopping we were on our way back to the real world.
Thanks again Mama for a good time. But, by the end of a weekend with a bunch of women I was pretty ready to be home. :) Love you guys!
