Monthly Update-September

So apparently I have joined the ranks of you in the monthly update blogging category. Boy howdy I feel busy, but not with anything I can really list here. A lot of this and that and a lot in between. A regiment of baby and toddler activities, naps and schedules and then callings, dinner, cleaning, family and yes of course fun, I just am not finding the time I once did to blog. Not to mention my husband has been hogging the computer in the evenings for work, which has kept him VERY busy (4 in escrow just this last month) and all of it he does on the computer. So the time I do have I don't have the luxury or availability of doing it on here. With that said, I will finish up September, which just flew by too. I honestly cannot believe it is October, I know I say it a lot but seriously, where does the time go?!

A few weeks ago most of my family members met at the $2 theater in Moreno Valley to see Monster's University. It was such a cute movie and my girls did pretty good... Jovie got a little chatty at some parts, but she was just so excited. Afterward we went to In-n-Out for din-din and Peyton was kind enough to get Jovie her own hat. Peyton insists on getting a hat and stickers each time we go and I am NOT allowed to ask, she has to do it (in her words), "alllllll by myself."
A new favorite game of Peyton's is Superman. I am Superman, Jovie is a magic fairy and she is a princess. Together Jovie and I rescue Peyton from the tower using the magic fairy dust from Jovie so she can fly out with us.
I recently took the 2 girls to Realis Gym for free play there. It's a gymnastics place that 2 a week is open to the public for an hour. Kind of lame you have to pay $4 for 1 hour but Peyton loves it and we don't do it a lot so it's a real treat for her. She loves swings and this cocoon swing we call it is her very favorite. Jovie was happy just hanging around (literally on me) and watching and shaking in delight.
Asher's b-day was August 28, but we celebrating on the 1st. He told Peyton he was having robot cupcakes so we decided to dress up for the occasion and showed up to the party looking like a robot... or something along those lines.
At Fred and Sandie's 1 Sunday all the kids were playing in the backyard. I looked over and saw Peyton like this.....
Apparently she needed a more relaxing way to swing. I had to assume Brinley had something to do with that contraption, but it looked pretty funny.
My parents also took Peyton to Disneyland for a belated b-day present. Again she was in heaven and keeps talking about all the fun things she got to do. Bugs Life 3D movie was a little scary to her. I can't wait to take her myself soon. Well, hopefully soon.
Wes and Peyton were outside playing and he took this gem. When I asked her what she was doing she informed me she was inside her cave sleeping.
Annnnd lastly, I love these pictures of Peyton helping Wes change our breaks. What I did NOT love about this night was while Wes wasn't looking Peyton sat in the tire and got covered in grease and oil and when I say covered I mean it. As in the band of her underwear being covered. As in soap would not clean her and I had to use Andy's heavy-duty-grease-soap-for-his-hands-after-working-on-his-car-and-scrub-her-clean covered in it. But what's a little oil and grease when it really comes down to it right?

(I suppose I should take the occasional picture of Wes or myself, but alas, once children are involved very rarely do I feel the need anymore to be in any picture).

Goodness Gracious

We have been so busy this last week or so. I have had the hardest time staying up to date on our life, so I am attempting it now.

So, here is our last week.

Monday 16th/Wed 18th: We've started Mommy and Me school. We usually do it during Jovie's morning nap and while Wes is working. Peyton's favorite time of school is craft time and book time. Here is my girl showing off our school wall.
After school we play for a while before lunch time.

Tuesday: We changed FHE to this day because it was our stake's temple day. So Wes and I took turns outside with the girl's while the other was inside doing "work". Peyton thought she had died and gone to heaven when we went inside the temple to use the restroom. She was so happy and literally jumped up and down with joy. But, I mist also point out how reverent she was inside. It was also a fun night because I ran into so many good friends from my old ward in Chino Hills.
After the temple we went to Cafe Rio for dinner. Peyton thinks this is basically a must with the temple and always remembers the fountain out front from more than a year ago when we went with my parents and my dad played in the water with her.

Wednesday: It is finally getting cool enough outside to play again. So, we let the girls ride to the park to play. It was Jovie's first time on the swings and it's safe to say, she loved it. I loved it. Peyton loved it. Wes loved it. We all had a great time.

Thursday: Went to the LA County Fair for a wonderful day/night. We spent the day with the jungle animals, in the barn petting zoo, got some milk, corn dogs, hot dogs, and lemonade. We also took Peyton on the big slide and Ferris Wheel.
Friday: Left for Todd Girl's Annual Weekend (or in this case Day) Away. I had to bring about a little bundle of joy this year as she is still attached (if you know what I mean). But we spent the night in the coolest hotel in Downtown L.A. Originally we were going to do a 5k in support of the Ronald McDonald House, which you might remember is where Danny and Sarah stayed when Willy was so sick, but that was cancelled so instead we just spent a nice day in downtown L.A. at the Biltmore Hotel. An old hotel with ghost storied, a lot of personality and terrible customer service. I would LOVE to take the hubby back and stay. We were directly across the street from the City Library which is a neat, museum like library and we toured that. We walked around the area and found some fun eating places like The Cabbage Patch. The only downer of our time there was all of the bums we had to deal with anytime we were outside.

I warn you there will be more details from this week/month very soon. :)

8 is Great

It is even more unbelievable this time around how fast my baby is growing up. This better not be the trend because by the time my last baby comes around, I won't know what hit me and before I know it my kids will all be grown and gone. And I am NOT down with that. I like babies. I want my babies to be babies for a longer amount of time. Even if that means less sleep and more work. Alas, on August 31st baby Jovie turned 8 months old. We've come leaps and bounds this month. As in......

-Baby learned to roll from back to belly. LOL Most babies her age are crawling, some even teeter on walking. My lazy babe learned to roll this month. Way to go girl! (BTW, I am so not complaining about this).

-Houston we have a schedule. Most days I know exactly what to expect from this girl. Some days throw me, but for the most part it is pretty much like clockwork. Our day looks like this:
*wake up at 5 am for morning feeding
*Back to bed til right around 7 am
*Play and nap at 8:30/9 am for 1 hour
*Awake and play. Nap at 1/1:30 to about 3 (usually about 1 1/2 hrs *can be more or less)
*Play until bed at 6/6:30 pm... for the night
Now something to mention... I feed her "real" food or baby food 1 or 2 a day. I give her table scraps (like she is a dog) at each meal. But this child LOVES to eat and will screech like a banshee the whole time if I don't feed her. She loved the french fries at In N Out and bombed on those. Loves watermelon and with only 2 teeth surprisingly chomps off big pieces. And I would say her favorite thing is bread. So, when we are eating I usually have to give her baby snacks to keep her occupied or she will inform me she is not pleased. (with loud screeching) I am still trying to focus the majority of our calories on nursing/formula though, so I try to do as little food as possible and give her food that she can feed herself primarily for practice.

-Speaking of nursing/formula I am still pretty much nursing solely. However just like Peyton at this age it appears my milk runneth dry. (Small sob) I have to keep one 4-6 oz bottle for the day to supplement after nursing because it appears my milk is not as supple as it once was and she usually wants 1/2 oz-1 oz after feedings.

-Our bed routine is fab now too. I simple lay her down and she doesn't make a peep. I swear the crying it out (somewhat modified because I have a hard time listening, so 15 min crying then a little cuddle or a shower to make it last longer where I can't hear) works wonders. Though when we are not at home it is not as easy... though I think that is pretty normal and she still sleep decently away from home. Because we do that approach within the week it works. However, we start at about 7 1/2 months and I still feed her in the night if she wakes (doesn't usually happen anymore though)
-Turns all around in circles on the ground, so I assume crawling isn't that far off... but we will see now won't we.

-Sadly this child loves TV and can easily be calmed by turning it on.

-Still loves to be held and cuddled like no baby I've known before. She is happiest being loved and held, squeezed and kissed. Making her a very popular baby around church and family. But making her somewhat challenging during mama's chore time, so my house is not always the cleanest. Oh well.

-Talking a lot more, and I swear she says "dada" and "bye-bye" though those sounds are common for everything.

-She is so smiley and happy. I think there are few times she is not smiling throughout the day. If you talk to her she will inevitably be smiling.

-She also still does the crazy intense turtle face. It is hilarious. Kinda weird looking and is usually accompanied with a big shake.

-She gets fussy for the following reasons.... 1. sleepy (lay her down, plug her with her paci and she's good to go). 2. Hungry, give her some food and she's good to go. and 3. Hold her...many times she gets mad if I leave her in a room alone or on the ground too long.

-Big time Mama's girl. If she sees me, she wants me. I love and hate it at the same time. Does that make sense?

This girl is happiness in a small, petite little package. Boy does this family love her. Peyton is her biggest fan, and she gets so excited when she does big girl things because she can't wait to play with her. Wes and I just think she's the cutest little lovable lamb and are so grateful for our 2 sweet, perfect, lovable baby girls. There is something very sweet and special about little girls!!!

So Long Sweet Summer

Actually the wonderful part about having 2 young children is our summer never really ends...which is how I like it. I love the freedom of our life and schedule, or lack thereof. No school to rush off to, no homework to do, for now daddy works from home so we can play together as a family, no bed... wait we do have a bedtime and that won't be changing here, because let's be honest, mommy still looks forward to mommy time too. BUT, this is such a sweet and fleeting time in our life and I revel in the fact I get to have both of my children home with me, and that we as parents are the primary example they get each and every day. Life is wonderful, and I dread sending these sweet babies of mine away so I am putting it off for as long as possible. The world will have their turn in my children's life (boo) but I am not giving it space now with these youngins. So, as far as you are all concerned summer is over, but ours will keep on keepin on. Suckers!

Here is the last of our "summer" photos.

We completed our city's summer reading program and the last reward was choosing a book. I was so excited to see a childhood favorite of mine (and Hayley's), "Dandelion", that I convinced Peyton she wanted to choose it. She has ended up loving it and wanting to read it all the time.
This photo cracks me up because these 2 look the same size... but don't be fooled. I recently had Peyton measured and she is in the 95% for height and 68% for weight. Jovie on the other hand is in the 40th % for both (if I remember correctly).
This baby LOVES taking baths AND showers.
Peyton takes tons of photos of her sister, but hasn't quite figured out how to get her fingers out of the way.
We are also getting ready to start mommy and me school, and learning to write her name is on our curriculum. She always wants to write our names but still struggles (obviously) with most letters.
Most recently she attempted "Dada" with a corresponding photo. I about died at how cute it was. Much better than the Hitler photo of Wes she drew yesterday.
I also got crafty and creative and made this cute headband for me and my girl. This is probably my favorite photo of this little girl... she is so beautiful!
My littles.
And remember when I mentioned Nana pants? Well, Jovie wanted in on the fun too.
Hayley gave Peyton an old light up Polly Pocket of one of her sister in laws. Peyton takes this thing into the dark bathroom and plays with it with all the lights off. She was mad at me here for taking her photo with the flash on.
Being weird and playing in our computer desk.
When I was out of town Wes took Peyton with him to his brother Patrick's house and they went  (along with his wife Kati) to the Led Zeppelin concert in the park.
This one was also taken that weekend. The 2 of them played a lot outside and went with Paul and his kids to John's Incredible. Apparently he wore her out a lot, because this NEVER happens.
John's Incredible.
Peyton taking a bath with her big little cousin Wyatt. This photo does not lie, they really are this close in size. We sure miss that little boy.
Annnnnnnnnnd.... always in our undies. Always.
