That's What She Said

Saturday August 19: Wes and I were doing laundry and I was hanging up clothes. Peyt was coloring on the ground. She looked up at me and said, "Mama!!!! Good girl!" I was confused and asked why I was good. And she replied, "You put away your clothes."

Same night Heidi and Ned watched her while we were at a movie. Heidi announced it was time for bed. And Peyton wearing Heidi's shoes yelled, "Nooooooo!" and began to run up the stairs. She fell and Heidi caught her. She then looked at Heidi and began apologizing over and over, "I sorry, I so sorry." Then once Heidi held her and said it was okay, she began to cry. She is very sensitive.

New things she says:

-Oooooo, oooooo, I almost forgot........

-Why? (and to this I asked, why me?)

-Sings "True" by Spando Ballet

-She calls Wes "Bubble Boy" on occasion. Like today for instance. It's hilarious!
Story: While we were camping she was having a hard time going to bed, there was just to much fun to be had out of the tent. So, Wes and her had watched a show, and sung some songs, and he finally said it was time for bed. She had come up with any and every reason to put it off, bathroom, play, you name it. When he said good-night she lost it and was crying and yelling "No! No, bubble-boy, no!!!!"

-She likes to call me "Lady" on occasion. Her and "lady" talk over the baby monitor pretty much daily.

-Says "Wanna know what" for just about everything.

-Loves to do the poo-poo dance after she poops.... don't ask. :)

-I was driving somewhere and was just dropping Wes off to run in and grab something, and Peyton was so excited and said, "Good driving Mama!" I couldn't stop laughing.

I am the first to admit I am a fickle woman. Wes always gives me such a hard time because I can't decide what I want in life. I know what I don't want or like, I say I like certain things, but when push comes to shove I really have a hard time being satisfied.

Let me explain......

I am a homebody. For about 5 minutes. I love being home, sometime I just want to stay in. A lot of the time I tell Wes how happy I am being home. But, really after about an hour I am bored to death. Then I just want to go out and do things. But, not just anything. For instance, I wanted out Saturday. So, we went through the list of things we could do. Park. Bike ride. Red box. You get the idea. But nothing sounded fun. (In the end we took a bike ride to the park, then Wes and I watched a movie once Peyton was sleeping).

I want to do new things. I do those other things everyday. (They are fun, don't get me wrong) but I wanted to do something new, fun and adventurous. I don't know what, but I am pretty sure if I had lots of money I could think of something. :)

So there you have it, I want to be home or out doing something new, just don't know what exactly. So, like I said, my poor hubby really has to have patience with his fickle wife. But, I'll tell ya what, I love him soooooo much for it and his willingness to pretty much do anything that catches my fancy. He is a good man!

Hold Onto Your Hats......

Because you are about to witness quite possibly the cutest photos any 2 year old ever took!

I am sure every parent thinks their kid is the cutest, and I am sure they are right. But, I am also sure mine is the cutest little girl I have ever seen. Plus, her willingness to pose, smile and enjoy the day just makes her that much better and cuter (in a mother's humble opinion). She was a rock star during the photo shoot. Wes and I just sat back and laughed as she just hammed it up, and loved every second of it. I've said it before and I will say it again, this girl is pretty darn spectacular and really has a flare for the drama (in a funny way).

(I had already framed this so it is a photo through a frame on the iphone)

These photos were taken July 24th, 2012 (the day before her b-day) at JC Penny... we like to go coupon cheap. Although we did splurge for the one of her different faces because it just caught "her look" so perfectly, we just couldn't resist.

(forgive the poor quality, this one was too large to scan so I had to take a photo of the photo using Wes' iphone of all things, luckily I was able to scan the rest).

Peyton's 2 year old stats:
weight: 27.6 lbs (68 %)
height: 34.75 (81%)

So, while she is still petite she sure has caught up with other kids her age.

We truly spent more time trying to decide which ones to buy than taking the photos, they all turned out so great.

Peyton can spell her name. "P.E.Y.T.O.N. Peyton". Count to 12. Knows she is 2.

Her favorite show is 'Super Why' and she loves making letter sounds. And knows a few...... 'S' being her favorite to say and sound out.

She loves to sing and dance. Her favorite songs are 'Somebody' by Gotye, Once there was a snowman, and popcorn popping.

She is a fun little girl with a LOT of spunk and personality.

What Was Your's Like?

July that is?

I know August is almost over, but I just realized there is still so much I haven't posted about from our July adventures. Like:

My mom and dad's 35th wedding anniversary. They spent the weekend in Big Bear and all of us kids went up one night to join them for a special anniversary dinner. We ate at a quaint (read small) restaurant  And putting all the O.G. Todds together in a small confined area can pretty much guarantee all NOT to have a quiet dinner. But, it does promise lots of laughs and lots of good food. Though I am not sure all the other diners would agree to loving our loud laughter. Whoops. ;)

We also celebrated Peyton's 2nd b-day some more with both sides of the family separately. Nothing special, just cupcakes and singing on Sunday family dinner. Actually, I guess it is pretty special. Not everyone is as lucky as us to have so many wonderful family members around that they actually love and look forward to spending time with. I would even go as far to say that our family (siblings) are our best friends and we love hanging out with them. Peyton soaked up every minute of being sang to and blowing out candles. Just the other day I made blueberry muffins for breakfast and she called them her cupcakes and wanted a candle. I may have given in and Wes and I may have sang "Happy Un-birthday" to her and let he blow them out.

I just realized she is always naked in these pictures, but look at her hand and her "careful" eating and you will understand why.

Her is Peyton and her bff Oscar at my parents house. What could be better? A cupcake in one hand, a stick in the other, wearing nothing but undies and new rain-boots, with your best pal in the background, life is good as a 2 year old!
 Intense, right?!

And here we are at Grammy and Papa's house. Hanging out yet again in undies and a bow mama made (see how crafty I am?), with best cousins Laney and Tug eating one of Sandie's AWESOME chocolate cupcakes, or for the adults little mini pies.

Like I've said before, these 2 just melt my heart. I love their little faces so much. I could just eat them both up!

I will also include just some extra cute pictures of nothing really from July. Why? Because I can dang it!

She's Crafty

I actually have done some crafty things recently. And, lemme tell ya, this NEVER happens, so it's kind of a big deal. I say the word "I" loosely because my mom did the majority of work for with me. Thanks Mom!

1. For the last 5 or so years (yes I said 5 and years on purpose) I have been making Wes a blanket/quilt. It is old t-shirts from his childhood, jobs, tournaments, races, mission, etc. I cut them all up, sewed them together and put it on fleece. So now they aren't all just sitting in the closet, but are looked at and enjoyed. Happy Father's Day (when I finally gave it to him). Maybe now I will make mine.... how does 2017 look?
Notice the back is fleece Charlie Brown. I'm sure that's what Wes would've chosen, right? ;)

2. While getting fleece for said blanket my mom and I ran across this cute fabric and decided to make Peyton this cute little dress. It seemed pretty easy. Mom? ;) I also decided that since I had some ribbon from a gift someone gave us at Peyt's baby shower in 2010, I would make a matching bow. Sha-zam!

3. I have made quite a few new hair-bows for fun... here is one, maybe soon I'll post the others.

2 is Better Than 1

We had a fun visitor yesterday. He is a good boy and Peyton had a blast "helping" Baby Tate. I can't believe by the end of the year we will have 2. Ca-azy!!!!!

The Quest: Part 7

Challenger: Burger Boss
Reigning Champ: Who Really Knows Anymore
(The Habit, In-N-Out, Umami)
So, we go back and forth so much with who we think has the best burger that I feel I must once again reiterate the reasoning behind our reigning champ title. The Habit up to this point has still been probably my favorite place. It taste so nummy (that's for you Hamiltons), and has so many options. However, Wes and I still agree that for price and taste In-N-Out has yet to be matched. No one can beat them with taste and value. But, Wes stands strong with his opinion that if it were closer, and cheaper he would always chose Umami, while for now it is our splurgey treat to get whilst in L.A.

With that said a few weeks ago (Peyton's b-day week to be exact, since we were shopping for her gift) we were hungry while running errands and had been told by our good friends Kim and Forrest Hernandez that we had to try this place in Mo Val called Burger Boss.

So we did. And....... we really liked it. In fact we really really liked it. However, it is so not our typical place. It is all organic and stuff and has healthy options. Um.... not really what we look for in a food place, thank you. But, we would actually return and sent out raving texts while we were there to friends and family. I mean simply check out their menu. They offer not only beef burgers, chicken burgers, turkey burgers and even a black bean burger.... whaaaaa? Were we the only people who haven't heard of this before? And then just look at all the sauces both for their burgers and fries you can choose from. We were fatties and got the cheese sauce on our fries. And, it was delicious.
Consensus: Eating here just makes the title of these next blog posts that much more difficult. It pretty much goes up there with The Habit, Five Guys, etc. It wasn't the cheapest, which was not my favorite. But, it was unique, offered a lot of options, and if you want to be healthy(ier) this is a good place to try. So, while I put it up there with my tops, I don't think this is the best burger I have ever had. But, it is definitely worth a try!!!

Irvine Spectrum

For our b-days this year Wes' bro Patrick and his wife got us a gift card to Red Robin, and we agreed it would be more fun to go together one day. So, we met half way in Irvine for dinner one night about 2 or 3 weeks ago. They had plans to go to Laguna that night for the Pageant of the Masters, but Wes and I figured that since we had driven down there we would hang out for a bit.

So after dinner, we walked around and window shopped, looked at the puppy's in a cute pet store, walked around Dave and Busters, and then even splurged a bit and rode the terrifying Ferris Wheel there. Okay, it really wasn't that terrifying, but I am NOT a fan of heights, but I do my best not to freak out in front of the little one. I don't want her to be like me in that regards, it is not a fun thing to live with. She already shows some signs of fear but I think she enjoyed it too. :)

We lucked out and Disneyland was doing it's firework show on our walk to our car. So we sat on the trunk and watched for a while. Peyton was in heaven. She ADORES fireworks. And since we were so close we HAD to stop and get some Italian Ices from Joe's off Harbor and Chapman. And, even at 10:30pm the place was bumpin' with good reason.

So even though the traffic on the way out sucked (and made me grumpy) we ended up having a fabulous night!!!

It's lucky for us that kids like pretend playing as much as the real deal. ;)
And... I wish this picture was more clear because that there is a genuine smile.

That's What She Said

I don't know about your children, but Peyton (and our nieces and nephews) provide many good catch phrases we use on a daily basis around these parts.

For example:
We no longer say hello but, "hewooo" thanks to Peyton
Gawesome (thanks to Ryan)
Tea and puppets (crumpets, thanks to Ella)
Fanks (thanks, baby Carter)
and the list goes on

More recently, we have started a new one due to a funny incident with Peyton and Wes from Sunday family dinner a week ago. The day was particularly chaotic. The whole family was there, we had just played a game and were trying to settle down for family dinner. Peyton had been moved into the dining room in a high chair and was all alone. The rest of the family was dishing food, helping the other kids, and saying a prayer around the kid table. Wes walked into the room where she was alone to check on her and asked, "Are you happy Peyt?" Her response was the quietest whisper, "Go away." He laughed and said, "I love you." Again she whispered, pointed 1 single finger over her head towards the other room and without looking at him (still pointing) whisper said, "Go away." What?! bwahahahahahaha. Apparently she had had enough as well. So now, ever so often we will surprise each other with a whispered "go away" for laughs. Kids DO say the darndest things.

19 Weeks Prego.... and yes, a belly photo

I don't know if it's because this is a 2nd pregnancy or a boy (I think both.... what?!), but I am carrying so differently this pregnancy compared to the last one. Read, I am much lower. I thought I had a hernia because every time I would move quickly I would have this sharp pulling pain in my lower abdomen, but when I asked the Dr. about it she said it's just the muscles pulling and stretching. Hmmmm.... interesting, this is new. But, I also know my body is so different after having Peyton. Besides that, and the same ole' headaches as the 1st time (with 1 terrible vomit inducing migraine), and getting a big ole' belly I feel great again. I am so excited and want to be done with pregnancy only because I am so excited to meet this little person. I am excited for Peyton to have a friend, and am excited to have a newborn. I LOVE little tiny sleeping babies. I honestly don't  mind the pregnancy part, I just want a baby so much more. :) And, if I have to be pregnant I better start feeling this baby move more. I am still only having little bumps here and there and I dreamed last night of the crazy big movements and it was so real and exciting, what a bummer to wake up!

So here I am in all my 19 wk glory with the cutest little sign holder ever (in my humble opinion).
You only get IPhone quality pictures with our broken camera. This is sadly a pretty accurate belly shot. I can still wear baggier things and not look quite so pregos, or in contrast I can wear empire waste clothes and look 7 months pregnant. ;)

BTW, can you believe next Friday I am HALFWAY done with this pregnancy. Me either, that's nuts, right?!!!?!?!?!???!

I love being a mom. I don't love every moment of being a mom, but I love the job as a whole and find a lot of joy in my calling. I love the lessons I learn from parenting, and the lessons I am taught by my girl.

Peyton taught me an important/sweet lesson Wednesday. In the afternoon we were packing up toys to give to her cousin 'Baby Tate' whom she adores. However, as I was putting things into a pile and explaining where they would be going, she wasn't totally thrilled with the idea. But, I tried to explain how he would like them, they would help him learn as he grows up and how happy he would be to have new toys. And... that was the end of that.

Later that night after enrichment Heidi dropped me off at home so I ran in to grab those things and handed Peyton some things to bring out with me. She did that pretty happily than disappeared inside, only to return with her beloved balloons. She loves these things let me tell ya. Yes, they are totally deflated but she carries them around the house all the time. I tried to explain to her that Heidi didn't need them and she could put them back inside. BUT, she was determined and cried to give them to Heidi for baby Tate.

I was shocked and amazed at the sweet gesture a 2 year old could make. Seriously how precious is my girl as she handed all 3 of her birthday balloons to Heidi for baby Tate.

You will be happy to know Heidi offered them back to Peyton (1 at a time) and she did accept them. But, the mere fact she was willing to give up such a precious commodity shows that maybe she gets it, and I hope I can continue to help her develop Christlike attributes. What a burden on our shoulders, right moms?

Forgive me if this seems like bragging, but I love this girl and I hope one day she gets what an amazing little person she was.

Beeeeeach Triiiiip!!!!

Our friends, the Bladhs, invited us to join them for a night (and a day) in a condo at Oceanside Beach. What we knew going into this trip was that we would have fabulous company, Oceanside was really close to our home and we would come back having had a good time!!!What they failed to mention along with the invite is that the condo complex is the closest building to the beach (3 minute walk to water), we would have the master bedroom, and how awesome the pool was as well.

We got there a little earlier than their family Friday afternoon, so Peyton, Wes and myself decided to take a nice stroll along the beach. Peyton absolutely loves the water, sand, rocks, you name it. On our way back to the car she was even taken down by a wave and just wanted to keep playing, butt crack showing and all.

Basically we spent almost our entire time there at the beach, night swimming, napping or eating. Exactly what a vacation should be right??? There was also a game or 2 played in the evening by the adults, but we were all pretty worn out and ready for bed.

Sadly, besides that first walk along the beach, I never took my camera out of my bag, AND....... it is now broken. :( I have no idea what happened that day, but we will have to get a new one. So, you will have to take my word for it.... we had a super good ole' time. I mean I napped on the beach. In the sun. All by myself. Can you remember the last time you did that?! Me either!!!  Hot summer days are so much better at the beach don't you think?

Maybe it's because we just watched Arthur Christmas this morning at the Summer movies at Harkins, but I think Peyton looks a little "elfish" in this family picture. And, I always laugh when I see how my chubby cheeks (family trait) push up my glasses so much when I smile.

Don't let her hesitant stance fool you, this 'pretend' to fear touching the water thing lasted all of 3 minutes. Then she couldn't run fast enough away from us.

AND...... yes, those are the condos we stayed in. Directly behind the beach. Wassup?!

I don't know about you, but when I was a little girl I would have to be the Little Mermaid on every large rock I came across. I don't think she is too young to try. Regardless of her having never seen the movie.

Before the wave......

Annnnnnnnd, after...... (ah snaps)

But, try as we might we just can't get this girl to just say no to crack.  And......she is only in a pull up because we thought (thought being the key word) she would nap on our way down to the beach.

And, I don't care how long I am married, or how many children I have I will love this man with all my heart and more forever. I seriously can't get enough of him. I need to make sure he finds a job that brings in lots of money but where we can always be together. I hate even moments away from him. And, I am so serious. ;)
