8 Months

Okay, so this is a few days late... but I figured with the last "Peyton post" I at least wrote a lot about her at this time in her life.

But, officially, Peyton turned 8 months on Friday. We have been soooo busy, what with going out to San Diego and Camarillo this past weekend. I just never got around to taking her picture. Then, Monday I had it all planned out; but our day was all messed up when we got stuck at the DMV for 2 1/2 hrs and baby was in no mood for pictures with her lunch and nap schedule pushed back.

And so, here we are Tuesday and I am finally getting around to it. Of course my camera (which is relatively new btw) sucks!!! For the life of me, I could NOT figure out how to take pics outside without them being sooooooo dark. After seriously about an hour (twice today) trying to figure it out, I just thought screw it, and I took dark pictures. I then attempted (not well) to lighten them up a bit. So, the quality stinks, but the model was and is perfection. And, you don't even get to see the best of them, because they are just too dark to make even ok. And, holy moly they were darling. Trust! Moral of the story, I need a new camera. Or, I need to learn how mine works at least.

So...with no further ado, Peyty Pie at 8 months...

-She still sleeps great through the whole night: 7pm-7ish am (sometimes a little earlier sometimes later)
-Naps 2-3 times a day.
-Rolls like crazy, and is scooting around more.
-Still nursing, but LOVES food of all kind.... baby, big people, rose petals, etc, etc, etc.
-Has 5 teeth now (the last 2 just came through this weekend). She doesn't even act like she is teething.
-Went swimming in a big pool for the first time (at our hotel, the pool was so warm).
-Her eyes are blue for now, but we are seeing some green specs and are curious to see if they change. Mine did, and I was just as blue at her age. Turned green at 2.
-Still incredibly easy going.
-Babbles all day long. Her favorite "sounds" are dadda (which she is always saying : / ) mama, and 'yeah yeah'. I know she doesn't really know how to associate words yet, but it makes me happy her first sounds are our names.
-When she gets really happy and a smile isn't sufficient, rather than laugh she grunts/coughs and her smile gets all squinty and she pants (It actually sounds like George McFly's, from Back to the Future, laugh). Sounds weird, but it is the best!!!!

-She loves to rock... hard. And, she kind of dances.
-Waves. Which goes from wave to patting herself on the belly or chest.
-Loves attention and to peek at people in her car seat.

Time please slow down a bit, I miss my little baby already and am not ready for her to grow up this fast.

Taken before church Sunday. Don't you love my little newsie? I certainly do.

The Beginning of "The QUEST"

The quest to find the perfect cheeseburger!!! And, I vow on my dead dogs's grave (Einstein) that I shall not rest until I have the (subjective) answer to the all allusive question as to what is the best hamburger in the world?!?!?

The Contender: 5 Guys Burgers and Fries
The Champion: In N Out Burger

In N Out vs 5 Guys Burgers; the history: As many of you may have heard, 5 Guys just beat out In N Out as the best burger. So, being an In N Out fan myself I had to weigh in. So, Thursday we went with an open mind and empty belly and gave 5 Guys a first try.

Result: 5 Guys is an awesome burger. Fantastic. Really. The standard burger is 2 patties, and you get to create the rest of your burger's insides off the board of wonders. I chose the following: ketchup, mustard, pickles, lettuce, onions, cheese, and bacon. I forwent the mayo-----blah and the grilled mushrooms---- double, no tripple blahhhhhh. There are extra items you can add as well, such as: A1, BBQ sauce, jalapeno peppers, relish, hot sauce, and peppers. I chose to go for something classic. Something I knew I would like and wouldn't ruin a good burger or 5 Guys chance at victory by being too creative. It had a homemade flava' and tasted genuinely fresh and cooked to order. A little heavy but D-lish. However, I still prefer the simplicity of good ole' In N Out. Their spread and light fresh taste are just too good. Plus, the cost to eat there was way less than 5 Guys, which is always something to consider. So 5 Guys is a def try, but not the best. But... I would say their Cajun fries are better than In N Out's (but so much worse for you) ;). And, they do give you all you can eat peanuts that you can throw on the ground while you wait for your food, which always gives me a little thrill. Plus for them!

So, by decision, the winner and still champion is... In N Out!!!!!!!!!!

On the next Quest for the best hamburger: In N Out VS Farmer Boys.

Thank you Burks for the invite, and Brobergs for joining us. We had so much fun!!!
Everyone say "awkward"... thanks Miss Ella Mae for that one. Who says cheese anymore?

La la la la laaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My cousin is doing one of those blog challenges. I wouldn't mind doing some of the posts, but some require just way too much thinking. 10 things about myself... I mean I just don't know 10 things about myself worth sharing or in general.

However, today hers just seemed like too much fun to pass up.

THE CHALLENGE: Go on your ipod, set the settings to all and shuffle and write the first 10 songs that show up. //Intriguing ehhhh?///

So here are mine (and Wes' if you will. We share the pod, but also have the same music taste for the most part. Which is good because I love music, and random music. As does Wes... so in essence we compliment each other). In fact, we have friends that call us with music questions all the time. And, if these bands sound familiar and you think of a band we might like, by all means suggest and share!!!!!

Our List:
1. There's No Secrets This Year- Silver Sun Pickups
2. Arabian Nights- Aladdin (I have a whole Children's Playlist I put on when P and I play)
3. Glass- Ingrid Michaelson
4. I Gave You All- Mumford and Sons
5. Title Track (We have the Facts...)- Death Cab for Cutie (both of our favorite band)
6. Helter Skelter- The Beatles
7. Summer Romance- Incubus
8. Simple Pages- Weezer
9. Sulk- Radiohead
10. Shooting the Moon- Ok Go

Koo Koo Kachooo

What's up with blogger... weird? Anywho... tis the month of March. Lucky us!!!!!!! And tis the 25th which means baby P is now 8th months old. And more fun than eva'!!!!!!!!!!!

In our home, sicknesses are now subsiding all around. Hurray!!! And what else have we been up to this month you may ask yourself. Welp, honestly, not much. A brief run down of our month...

Wes played in the Chino Stake League and his team (San Antonio, where his folks live and where he has grown up playing) won it all!!!! He seriously looks forward to this league every year for months and months and months!!!  So, every Thursday we would drive 40 minutes for him to play church ball, and Peyton and I only missed 1 game. Yes, we are true fans.

Peyton and I hang out. A lot. Especially since we only have the 1 car. So, we go on walks. Picnic outside. Play with bubbles. And do a whole lotta cleaning. I hate cleaning because it never stays clean... especially on the weekends when Daddy is home, or when I get around to laundry. I don't mind putting the loads in, but despise hanging things up.

And she loves getting kisses... it's the only sure way to make her laugh. She is very smiley, but hard to make laugh. And, listen to the Hi-Larious sound she makes at sec. 7. Wes and I have watched this over and over just laughing and laughing. Man I love her! BTW, she usually laughs more.

We've been loving the warmer weather, but are happy it's rainy too. I know once Summer hits, we will so miss the cooler days. I hate sweating and I hate being hot, and I especially hate paying the electric bill in the Summer. And, I am a little out of control but I did already buy her 2 bathing suits anticipating beach and pool days. Okay, I bought 3, but I know we are going to spend a lot of time outdoors, especially since my bro and s.i.l. just got a new house with a pool. Booyah!

We've continued to work on Peyton's room. Adding a cute rug, some photos and prints, curtains, etc. We still need to finish a lot, and I might get around to posting more pics sooner or later. And, as you can see, I still need things like a table for the lamp, etc. :)

Peyton is still the best sleeper. And, there is nothing better than watching a sweet baby sleep. Every night I have to give her little bum a squeeze, and Wes always has to hold her hand for a few moments. I am so going to miss the days of little babies. They have gone too fast. I want a litter of babies. :) tehehehe

She has finally got the rolling thing down, and understands it gets her to what she wants. She rolls back and forth and back and forth. Sometimes I don't think she even wants anything as much as she likes to roll. And, she breaths like a fat man the whole time. She is the cutest little steam roller.

P also loves her bath or taking showers with us, but her favorite part is afterward being in her towel. What a funny girl! Most of the time she holds it over her face, i.e. bites it, and then pops out smiling. 2 days ago she learned she likes splashing. I've been trying to make her splash for forever, and she finally did it herself and loved it. She would kick and punch the water, splashing water everywhere all the while squealing with her eyes closed. Then look up at me excitedly as if to say, "Did ya see that mama? Did ya? Did ya?" Then repeat the cycle making me laugh over and over again.
And, she still loves her food. Except anything meaty. She hates the meat foods, so we don't buy them anymore.... too bad I still have a bunch from the first purchase. I keep trying to mix them in with her veggies to trick her into eating it, but she ain't no foo'.

All smiles until the meat comes in....

Oh, and she waves... which may just be my favorite thing in the whole world. The other day Wes walked by her window in the car (we were waiting for him so she was sitting on my lap in the back seat) and she happened to see him, and instantly started to wave and make noise. Tender!

And, while she is lazy (I say content) inasmuch as she doesn't really try to crawl, and if you put things out of reach to inspire movement, she will just play with her clothes or feet or something; she is awesome at some of her fine motor skills. She follows the smallest things with her eyes, picks them up, moves them. She eats by herself like a champ, using her pointer finger and thumb (very daintily I might add). She is also quite coordinated. I bought a big red ball at Wally World for a buck the other day, and she a Wes were playing. He would roll the ball and she would hold onto it as it came to her, catch if you will. She closed her arms in time and even reached to the side for it with Aunt Heidi Thursday. She is awesome.

In the video you can see her catching the ball, and doing a little wave (not her best I might add). She just doesn't always perform for the camera, the little diva.

I recently also closed a real estate deal and have a few more in the works. :) Congrats Dan and Sari. Oh, so I guess that is another thing we did this month. Helped them move into their house. Actually, that morning Hayley, my mom and I did a Children Diabetes fun-walk in Lake Elsinore.... Wes stayed home with Peyton. That was when she was getting sick so he didn't go over right away to help Dan and Sarah move so that Peyton could nap. By the time I got home and we made it there to help, most of the work had been done, kids were being dunked in the pool and pizza was served. :) But, we stayed a little longer, helped put some stuff away and admired the new place.

And, the most crazy thing is I have actually been training for the Fontana Days half marathon in June, and actually feel pretty durn good. My team and I are up to almost 6 miles, and it's not as bad as I thought. Even more crazy is I am going to keep doing the work out regimen I am on now even after the race because, it is kind of fun and not too hard. Plus, I have lost 28 lbs in the last 5 1/2 months. Not too shabby eh? Ok, you would never guess by the 3 chins I have in the picture of Peyton in her towel, but it's true.

3 Days Later... Update

Welp, after 2 days of bad we are almost all good. Peyton's fever broker Wednesday morning and she is back to her normal, happy, fun self. She is all smiles again, and that makes us parentals all smiles. Her fever got up to 102, but its gone, and besides the bad cough (which made her throw up again this morning) we are happy and relatively healthy.

And, little boy blue... aka baby Huefner now has a name... only 3 days after he was born.

They named him:
Trenton George (after Grandpa who pushed to have them name him after him) Huefner

And, because we've had a sick little one we still haven't made it out to see him. :(

Pie Day

Today was the saddest day for me! Okay, maybe not thee saddest, but it did stink... well, except for one thing. Let's start with the bad news. (I always like to hear the bad news first, so hopefully, the good news will outdo it; although sometimes bad news first makes the good news less fun). Moving on... bad news!

My baby is sooooo sick, and it is breaking my heart. She has been running a fever all day long~ like seriously burning up (between 99-100+ degrees). She threw up once, and had diarrhea. I mean I know it could be a lot worse, but it still tears me up to watch her suffer. And, she has been sneezing long snots out, and has the worst phlegmy cough. She basically laid on me all day long (which selfishly I loved). For about an hour she was smiley and playful which was wonderful and made me so happy---- that was when she threw up. So, we've been enduring that all day, and I am already ready for her to return to her happy, grabby, playful self.

And, my house is a mess because between holding her all day, and taking care of a sick little one, it takes a lot out of a mama. And, I didn't sleep well, because she kept waking up whining and moaning due to to the sickness, though she didn't stay awake long at any time (lucky for us) And although I didn't need to go to her or anything, I just sat worried listening to the monitor. Poor little thing.

Now, the good news: We welcomed our new little nephew into the world today. Wes' sister Jaime, and her husband Matt had their little guy. Baby #4, who still has no name, even though he was born this morning. He was born at 10:30 am, at 7 lbs 15 oz. He's darling, fair, and has the Huefner pinky finger. We can't wait to meet him, even though it might be a while.

I am sitting here right now, as the hubby plays video games and baby is sleeping and I am bugged. Just bothered, and over nothing in particular. Okay, that is not completely true. I keep reading and hearing about people's fun trips they are planning, where they've been or where they are going and it bugs me (big time) that it is not me. And, it's making me mopey and sullen.

Not to say we don't do fun things, but, we don't do fun things.

I am itching for a vacation. A true blue vacation where we have to pack, and fly somewhere and eat weird/delicious food. One where my only responsibility is taking lots of pictures, work on my tan, and see the hot spots. And walk until my feet feel like they are going to fall off.

And I want to go with just Wes and maybe Peyton. I mean Wes and I have only stayed in 2 hotels by ourselves and that was in Mesquite 1 night and Palm Springs for 2 (and I was 9 months pregnant and it was 115 degrees). I guess we've done 2 cruises but those were so long ago and I wanna go now on a week + vacation. I mean is that too much to ask?

I wish I could say I am not the jealous type, but who am I kidding, I am totally the jealous type. And, right now, I am super jealous of everyone who is doing something or is planning on doing something fun. I hate you... even if most of the time I love you. Right now, not so much. So, to gain my favor you need to be my benefactor and send me on an awesome vacation. Or be in the same no fun predicament as myself.

Rock Star!

On Sunday Wes and I went to the best rock show ever... literally. And, the best part about it, it was all at the Aleman home. And the rock show was literally a "rock" show.
When we arrived Tyler informed us he would be putting together a show, or a museum if you will. He needed proper lighting and to be left alone until it was ready. This kid is such a stud. With the help of some of the older boys he arranged his rocks to his liking. Set up a few signs with stories, info, and directions, and prepared his show for his audience. He then led us around and informed us about his many rocks. He had fossil sand dollars, rocks that were round, square, 'colorish', sharp, teeth, gems, polished, shells, etc. etc. etc. He recently spent 6 of his own dollars to purchase his newest addition, a gem rock... I forgot it's scientific name unfortunately. He even made Peyton a fossil when she was born. I think this kid is going to be a archaeologist or geologist when he grows up. He also has a slight obsession with the Titanic right now... a kid after my own heart.
Oh and btw, I heart him!!! He is so cool!!!
