Morning Time

Mornings are officially the best now!

Besides the fact Peyton is now usually sleeping 6-7 straight hours most nights, she wakes up in the best moods. AND, she tracks us and responds to us at 5 weeks old. She loves to smile and has given me some of the best morning smiles I have ever seen or could even imagine. I need to keep the camera next to the bed to capture these sweet moments. Alas, my memory will have to do (and this little photo Wes caught with his phone)... however, she has given me even bigger smiles and they all make me so happy. Who knew being a mama was so darn fantastic. Boy do I love this little bug!

Wes is my heart, but sweet Peyton is now my world!

I love you sweet daughter of mine!

Birthdays and Baseball Games

It's official... my baby is 1 month old today. And as such, she gave me a hard day to remember this milestone. She decided she would not nap today, and even now, I laid her in her bassinet after a bath and walk and I can hear her "talking" to herself and sucking her fingers. Oie vay... apparently she is too grown up for naps or sleep now. But until she cries, she gets her alone time so I can FINALLY have some for myself.

I am not a great photographer, and since she seriously would not let me put her down today, these are the best I got.

Babies eyes apparently don't do too well with a flash in a darker room.

My fam calls her Jap-Anima because she has huge eyes and then does funny small mouth faces

And this face seriously just cracks me up...

Also, we went to our first baseball game last night with some of my family. She cried when we left... I think cuz' the angels sucked so bad. However, my little monkey fell asleep in her carrier before we got out of the elevator. Unfortunately, Wes was not able to come with us. Next month my love, next month.

Don't mind me in this one... but look at her darling face. Ahhh, sometimes I have to just stop myself from squeezing her!

New Title?

Yes, I think I will/have become an official "mommy blogger." But, how do you not when your life revolves around a sweet little person?

Anywho... I make no apologies as this here is a blog about my life, and what's important to ME. And, the most important thing to me at this time is "Princess Pei Pei" (name that movie).

So.... with that said, my little girl found her thumb yesterday. How cute is that?! Weird what makes me excited anymore. She also only catnaps all day, unless she is being held, which was all day Saturday, so she was maybe up for an hour all day. Come 4am Sunday, and she was ready for the day to begin. She has given me 2 nights of 6 hours of straight sleep, which was fantastic. AND, she is starting to smile at me (awake) when I talk to her--- few and far in between, but I am lovin' when she does. She is also balding like a little old man... and when her hair is clean she is all fuzzy and sweet.

I still cannot have imagined a better, more beautiful baby. She makes me and Wes so happy... we seriously can't stop looking at her and talking about her. Although, we both forgot about her at church on Sunday... it was pretty funny. Good thing Ned was sitting with her. We didn't leave her or anything, just a momentary lapse.

Well... expect more baby blogs from hence forth and forever. Though I will try to be somewhat adult still too, and blog about something other than baby. :) No promises though.

Tummy time turned into self soothing-find my thumb time.

She now enjoys her bath, which makes mama happy.

Calling All Friends...

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Hampton Hotels. All opinions are 100% mine.

SERIOUSLY, let's all do this!

So, Hampton Hotels has this awesome giveaway, that I want to win. In fact, I would be happy if any of my friends won because I might still benefit. What you can win is 100 rooms for 2 nights, so you can invite all your friends to come and stay in the hotel with you. I mean, talk about the ultimate party.

I would love to invite all my friends and family to come share the magic with me. We could have the ultimate hall party, full of root beer freezes, light hand hors d'oeuvres, maybe the friends that I don't like as much can be invited as servers (kidding, but seriously, who is going to serve). The nice part is, kids are welcome, we could have swimming parties, watch all the cable television we like (that is quite the treat for Weston B. and myself) and it would be no out of pocket expense... ahhh let me take a moment to drink it all in! Of course, keep it local so we could all join in the fun... unless you want to travel somewhere else, in which case I am all in, because let's face it, I LOVE to travel. Booyah!

There is a daily giveaway on Hampton's website.

What we all need to do is the following:

Go to their website at: Hampton Chain of Friends Sweepstakes enter and when/if you win invite me! :)

Sweet Baby---- 2 weeks old

We had our good friend Lydia Tolman take some photos of our sweet Peyton almost 2 weeks ago, and even though she did not want to cooperate, we got some great shots and are soooo happy with how they turned out.

My Cutie Pie

Peyton is still the absolute BEST baby! She rarely cries, and when she does all I need to do is feed her and we are all good! She sleeps a lot and sleeps well at night. She still grunts like a baby piglet... and does a funny horse sound with her mouth/lips--- which makes me laugh. She loves to stick her tongue out like a little lizard. She has huge eyes and makes the funniest faces when she is awake- cross eyes and googly eyes are a common occurrence. She also loves sucking on her lower lip, which makes her have funny faces too. If she gets upset she kicks her legs hard- she can stand up on me on her own if I am leaning back enough (future soccer player I think). We often find her at the bottom of her bassinet in the mornings with her legs all smooshed against the bottom, because she moves around so much at night (just like both mommy and daddy). When we took her shopping we changed her on this flat cart off to the side of the store, and she squirted poop all over--- we both looked around and just cracked up. She is an absolute joy for us, and we love showing her off because nothing gives us more pride. I love motherhood and it has been much easier for me than I anticipated. But, that could also be because I have the bestest, most perfect, beautiful baby, whom I love more than anything else.

Wes is a great dad and loves spending time with his little girl!

I love her cute little (big) feet.

Finding Easy Ways to Cook

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Mission Foods. All opinions are 100% mine.

So... now that I have a baby who constantly wants to be held to sleep (most of the time I love this and am in heaven) there are times when it is... hmmmm, how should I say, slightly inconvenient. Come on moms, you know what I am saying.

One of the times I wish she would sleep somewhere other than in my arms is when I need to get ready, or even more so, when I am trying to cook a meal.

I have found that I have a short amount of time to get food ready now, and I like to eat. So, I've found ways to make delicious easy meals fast. Food staple..... Mission Flour Tortillas (like the ones they give away at Disneyland, don't you just love that)?

Anywho.. I make a lot of our meals with these now. I love homemade bean and cheese burritos, and egg burritos in the morning. We also make quesadillas regularly, and incorporate these bad boys with a number of other things, and they always taste GREAT! They are versatile and require very little effort on my part.

The best part is Mission Flour Tortillas contain 0 grams Trans fat per serving and are cholesterol free. They are also available in small (6"), medium (8") and large (10”) sizes in my closest grocery store. My healthy family (def. not Wes and I) also buy these in whole wheat, though we def. prefer the flour.

When I worked at the school district they would use Mission Tortillas to make PB&J sandwiches, kids apparently prefer these to pieces of bread... go figure.

We also like them because they are pretty budget friendly, come in a big pack which lasts a long time, and taste sooooo good.

So anyone who feels as busy as I do, check out www.missionmenus.com for examples of quick and easy, kid-friendly back-to-school meals using Mission Flour Tortillas.

Mt Rubidoux Hike

Last night, Monday, my family all met to hike Mt. Rubidoux in Riverside. It was hot to start out with but by the time we got to the top it was perfect. Besides a few scraped knees, kids falling, sandy desserts, and angry babies we all had an absolute blast.

At Week 3 and already preparing for her first hike... man she is darling, right?

Extra Extra Read All About It

The last 3 weeks we've....

-Had a bonfire at the beach
-Gone on multiple shopping trips (Peyton and I)
-Ate at multiple restaurants with family---Chili's, Benihana, P.F. Changs, Taco Bell and Del Taco, etc.
-Gone to Bakersfield to watch Heidi play her alumni game at Cal State (with trips to Tahoe Joe's and Rosemary's creamery.... yummmmm)
-Played with cousins
-Given Peyton her 1st real bath
-Received great news
1. Ashleigh and Andy are finally ENGAGED! He asked her last week, and we are all so excited to have him in the fam bamily.
2. Peyton got the fun announcement that she will no longer be the youngest cousin come March... Jaime and Matt let us all know we will have a new addition to the family.... Jaime is PREGNANT!
-Celebrated Claire's 3rd b-day
-Wes got transferred to an even closer hospital for work AND he goes back to his earlier schedule which I am pumped about
-Watched Wes play his last city basketball game... we will just leave it at that
-Attended church and Y.W. activities
-AND, this week Wes starts teaching seminary... yes, the lucky man got called to teach the Juniors and Seniors in early morning seminary. Sound familiar? :)
- Had Peyton's photos taken and loved what we saw of them thus far, thank you Lydia.
-Visited with friends
-Attempted to catch up on missed sleep. :)
-I closed a real estate deal that I've been working on for a long time (dang sort sales)

So, basically life has resumed, and is wonderful. I apologize for the lack of photos. Our camera takes 1 photo and dies... so I've given up trying to take too many photos.

Imma Week Old Today... Hooray!

Peyton celebrates her 1 week birthday today.

So far she is still the easiest going baby I think maybe in the world.

She sleeps most of the day, and when she is awake she is either eating (ouch by the way for me) or looking around. She does a little wail/squeak when she is upset and then she is done. She has informed us she is unhappy and she waits to be tended to. At night she goes to bed with us around 11:30, and usually sleeps in until 4 (sometimes earlier sometimes later)... she eats for about 1/2 hour or 45 min then goes back to sleep and wakes up anywhere between 6:30-8:30 and then looks around for a while after she eats. Man I adore this little girl!

She loves to be held and talked to. And hates to be undressed. And hates even more baths because then she is undressed and wet... we learned that after her first sponge bath which about broke my heart... it was the only time we've heard her really cry at home.

We went to her 1 week well apt. and she gained weight. At birth she was 7 lbs 10 oz now she is 8 lbs 2 oz.... yes she likes to eat. I saw the weight on the scale ( so I trust it to be true), though the girl doing the measurements was, how do we say, inept. According to her, my baby, who was 19 1/4 inches long at birth, is now only 18 1/2 inches long... so she is shrinking before our eyes. Peyton likes to suck, so we got her a pacifier and she has taken quite nicely to it. She really is an easy baby; even when she got her shot, she cried and the moment I picked her up and comforted her she was done, although she does poo 4 times a day. :)

Wes and I can't get enough of her and think she is just the bees knees. We love our little girl!

Doing what she does best/most...

Meeting cousins...

Delanie

Brinley

Tyler (who made Peyton an awesome fossil)

And cousin Will (4 months vs 4 days)

o hey big baby

Her 1st sponge bath... daddy took good care of her...

And my favorite thing about the fact she is no longer it the womb...is I'm no longer retaining 12 lbs of water... in my feet. :)

The photos don't even do it justice

Before (notice the indention from my finger)

And after (sweet relief)

So happy to have my sweet baby here with us... I had no idea how much love I had for someone I've only known 1 week.
