Flashback Friday: Tahoe

Before Wes and I were married I went with him and his family to Tahoe... 1 of my favorite places ever! We will be going back this upcoming week.

Some fond memories from our 2005 trip include:

Wes "almost" proposing... dang wind

Lindsay left on her mission right before we left
Being scared to death on the tram up, being scared to death driving on the mountains
Eating crawdads

Wave runners and kayaks

Sandie and I getting our nails done together
Getting to know his family better

Feeding the ducks out of our mouths (well the brave ones at least)

Tyler being the cutest little thing ever

It was such a fun trip and I can't wait to go back!

Weekend... Workin' for the Weekend

Saturday we went out with Matt and Jaime (and Tyler and Brinley) to Silverwood Lake to break in the wave runners for this upcoming week at Tahoe. Whoop whoop... just have to say that it got me pretty dang excited! :)

One Little Tornado

For those who don't know, I have the cutest craziest nieces- ALL OF THEM, but the younger ones in particular. The girls in our family (both sides) seem to have "personality". Seriously! They are head strong, stubborn, willful, adorable, hilarious, and CRAZY! My brother's little girl Claire is one of these girls I am talking about. I thought I would show some photos to demonstrate what I mean.

Here's to you Crazy Claire-Bear!

And the pièce de résistance a broken fibula bone: 7/21/09. (story here). Oh, Claire you little tornado, we love ye!

Yosemite July 2009

Memories from our trip:
  • Half Dome Hike (Me , Wes, Danny, and my mom, Annette) -- We made it to to the top of the world at a price!
  • The Cookie Jar Song, “Who stole the cookie….” And, when the adults couldn't handle this song anymore- the kids being innovative made up a new song... "Who stole the honey..."
  • Bagel Sandwiches, Bagel Sandwiches, Bagel Sandwiches, oh yeah and maybe 1 more bagel sandwich
  • “That’s what she said….”
  • Na-na-na-na-na-na-NO! -Ella Mae
  • The Indian Village at the Visitor's Center
  • Riding the Yosemite Shuttle -- Usually at the back of the bus --- or as Claire called it, the "round and round"
  • Taking photos at the Ahwahnee
  • Rafting and Tubing down the Merced River – (sneaking the rented raft to camp and trying to lose the ranger on horseback to get a longer & more exciting ride)
  • And Ella being wussy on said raft... "Oh no people", "Daddy's going to take us down the river", "wind!", etc, etc, etc.
  • Moving campsites (218 great base most of the time).. and also the only perk of half dome was not having to move 218!

  • Finding new and interesting ways to use the restroom... some that actually worked!
  • Claire ditching her shoes
  • Claire waking up at 3 am... "ouch"
  • Swimming in the Merced near camp
  • Baby Ducks and Mama Ducks
  • Ned chasing a bear in the middle of the night (the one that stole and shredded Heidi’s pack)
  • The Brave (or crazy ones) Jumping off the top of Swinging Bridge into the Merced
  • Ned and Danny snorkeling to find change (and a label for someone’s scattered ashes and prescription medicine)
  • Lower Yosemite Falls, enjoying a walk at dusk and posing for pictures
  • Ice Cream in Curry Village (3 Danny Todd family scoops plopping to the ground the first night)
  • Lots of soda fountain refills (are we addicts or what)!? And the half-wits who can't operate the fountain drinks.
  • Eating pizza while our family entertained those who sat near us (nice widow and guy who fainted)
  • Mirror Lake, Carter (and Danny) catching a Trout
  • Playing in the Indian Caves
  • The girls sneaking into the Camp Currey Village showers--- well except April who opted out with the boys.
  • Mosquito bites, April’s forehead, arm, and many others
  • Watching rock climbers on the face of the high cliffs
  • John’s art class and beautiful Half Dome painting
  • Walking through the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias, riding the huge fallen tree

  • Baiting bears around the camp
  • Smores with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
  • Hot Dogs and hamburgers at 10:00 p.m.
  • The humming game and fun in the cabin
  • Playing Pool with sketchy rules
  • Finding giant pinecones
  • Claire’s funny phrase, “Run away” - she would tell others too as well... that girl is going to be a stubborn teen!
  • Ella singing and dancing
  • Stagecoach Ride and Learning at The Pioneer History Center
  • John’s chimichangas (we’ll go for a do-over on these)
  • Awkward family stump photo
  • The beautiful sunsets and greenery
  • Huge crows
  • Feeding the squirrels out of our hands
  • Being on a tube going down small rapids... "butts up!"
  • Carter being angelic all week
  • My dad ran---twice
  • Ned doing the nannerpuss
  • Dirty kids, dirty adults, being dirty
  • Sunburns and beards!
  • Bear boxes

Can't wait to go back--- what a wonderful vacation!
