What a Week... Whew

How's that for alliteration?! :)

Well what a fun week we had! Work as usual for the most part, but it's not bad when you love your job as much as I do!

But, as I mentioned before, Asher Broberg joined the family on Thursday. So, we had fun visiting him in the hospital and celebrating his birthday. (Below are the pictures I promised earlier this week).

Ella checking out her new brother, Asher.

Wes and the chillins'.

Ned the proud daddy.

Me and baby Berg.

Mama and baby...

Then Friday was my brother Danny's 30th birthday. Wes and I joined him, and his family, at Balboa beach for the day. The weather was perfect! Wes, Danny and myself had a ton of fun in the water. The waves were too weak to do any body/boogie boarding, so we made up our own games. Some of the favorites were flipping backwards with the waves, and playing Mike Tyson's knockout. This game required us to link arms and stand backwards without seeing any oncoming waves. We went under a few times, not so much because of the waves hitting us, as much as the fact that we were laughing so hard the entire time! We also had a lot of fun digging deep holes, then having Carter stand in them, burying him and making shapes using his head as a prop... see photos below. Claire, or the sand pie just enjoyed laying her face, hands, body or anything else as deep into the sand as possible... she is such a crack up!
During the evening, my mom, sister Hayley, her son Ryan, and Sarah's family, along with Danny's friend Shaun and his girlfriend joined us for a beach bonfire.

It was so much fun! Happy b-day "Denny."

Danny the birthday boy...

30 years ago she was in labor with this guy. :)

Having fun burying Carter.

Final results are...

Carter the "man"

And, Carter the sphinx/cat.

He was such a good sport the entire time :)

We love the Beach and taking in all the beautiful scenery.

Claire just couldn't keep the sand out of her face, diaper, bathing suit, or just about anywhere else for that matter.

At one time in the night she actually reverted back to to her German roots... is she hailing Hitler???

And what's a bonfire without smores???

Then Saturday, we had a great time celebrating Ryan McCook's birthday (which was the 26th) at the Angel's game. Taryn had us, along with Jill and Paul Duncan, join her and Ryan at the Angels game as a surprise for Ryan's b-day. He had no idea we were coming, and thought Taryn just got him 2 tickets for his birthday. The only bummer was we (us and the Duncans) thought it started at 7, so we were 45 minutes late to the game... we probably surprised Taryn who thought we wouldn't show up actually. :)
Funny story while we were there... as we were walking in (45 min late) some of the workers were handing out little Angels backpacks. Wes and Paul walked in first and walked right by them. Jill walked in next and they handed her a back-pack. She took it not really knowing what it was. I saw this and as always was excited for something free... heck I love free things. Nobody went to hand me anything, so I asked if I could have one too... I mean I had just walked in with Jill who had gotten one, right? The lady apologized and explained that it was only for "children." What?! Jill is older than me... with a baby. We all started cracking up when we heard this. Guess they thought Paul was Jill's older brother and Wes and I just liked hanging out with teenagers. Jill must look 5 years younger in a hat.

Like a kid on her first day of school.

But, we had a GREAT time at the game! And best of all, the Angels won this time! Go Angels!!! :) Final Score: Angels-4 Rangers-3.

Happy belated birthday Ryan, and thanks for including us Taryn, we had soooo much fun!!!

Sorry about the smudge on the camera lens... it is driving me crazy too!

Why I Love California

So... I have to admit that for the most part I had what I can say, only as an understatement, a very crappy week.

However, like in all aspects of life, whenever I sit back and review everything, so many small things happen everyday that are good but I allow myself to overlook them.

While for the most part this week I cried a lot, and moped around... I was lucky enough to have a wonderful realization yesterday. I realized how good life is and how much I love where we live. Besides the obvious, that while sometimes having so much family around can be stressful, I know in reality I wouldn't change it for the world. I also realized that my life is another's vacation. On Tuesday Wes and I went to Disneyland. Then, Saturday we went to a nice restaurant, to the beach with my mom, and finished the day in the spa and watching the Olympics on a big flat screen T.V. (not ours unfortunately, but nice none the less). Most of these decisions were spur of the moment. How many people can do what we do everyday?

We live such a blessed life, and have so many fun and wonderful opportunities! I have a husband who I love more than I could ever express, and I know he feels the same way about me. We have wonderful friends, the gospel truth in our lives, and numerous chances to better ourselves in every way possible.

So, when I look at my life in this way, I guess its not all bad. Its nice to have quiet moments that allow me to step away from the hectic events of the "now" and look at the big picture! :)

Good to be Back

We headed back to Disneyland last night with our friends the Bladhs. It was a whole lotta fun. Our passes had been blackened out for the summer, so it was good to be back. We especially loved the new Toy Story ride... in fact one of the best rides EVER in my humble opinion. Though we did still go to Buzz Lightyear, which in comparison just isn't quite as good anymore. :(
Thanks for the invite guys!

Happy Anniversary to the Todds

My brother and his wife celebrated their 6th wedding anniversary this past weekend. They were married in July of 2002. However, they couldn't get away in July this year, so they postponed their celebration until this weekend. Wes and I took their kids, Carter and Claire for them on Friday night and Saturday morning. We had a lot of fun with them, though I must admit, they are VERY EASY kids to watch.

Highlights: Carter thought it was really "cool" of us to take them to get McDonald's ice cream cones. Claire loved seeing and petting the "daws"- dogs. Celebration park in Moreno Valley, where Carter ran around in circles and Claire and I spent most of our time on the swings. Receiving delicious Bucca Di Beppo as payment! :)

I must say marrying Sarah was the best decision Danny ever made. We love you guys!!!

Heidi's B-day Celebration

My sister Heidi just celebrated her 28th b-day on August 14th. Most of the family (excluding Danny who had school open house night, and Adam who was working) celebrated by going to California Pizza Kitchen at the Shoppes of Chino Hills. It was muy delicioso, keeping to Wes' roots. I just can't emphasized enough how much we love living by our families and the ability we have to do so much with them. As cheesy as it sounds, and we are well aware we are cheesy, our families are truly our BFF's... you know "best friends forever"!

The Birthday Girl... not bad for having a baby in 3 weeks!

B-day girl and child #1, Ella.

The Family who hugs together stays together... how's that for cheesy?!

The youngins' were shocked there was no birthday cake.

The whole fam-damly... minus a few.

Wes' Heritage

Wes' Great Uncle: Miguel Aleman

Did I mention he was El Presidente de Mexico (yes that means president... of the country)!

Notice the family resemblance???
