Farewell to President Hinckley

The Prophet of the LDS church passed away Sunday January 27th. Someone sent me this slideshow of him, and I really liked it...

I think it shows so much about him, and how much we will all miss him!

We Love Santa Monica :)

This last weekend (Jan 25-26) Wes and I stayed with our good friends, the McCooks, at their beautiful apartment located in Santa Monica. Friday night we got there kinda late. Taryn, who I've decided is an excellent cook made us a delicious BBQ chicken dinner. We then watched The Bourne Ultimatum, excellent film, and hung out.

Saturday was a beautiful day. The rain, which had been falling pretty good Friday stopped and it was sunny and nice. We decided to head down to the pier for the morning. Ryan and Wes decided to try their hand in the basketball shoot, which is kinda a tradition with us.

My husband who is a terrific basketball player missed his shot, while Ryan made both of his.

Nate and Taryn cheered him on the whole time. :)

Me and the boys also rode the dragon swing, and had a screaming contest. Wes and I won by measurement of pure volume, but I would have to say Ryan won the ugliest screaming faces competition. We had such a fun time.

We had to take this picture in front of the carousel, because Wednesday of last week we watched the movie Cellular, which takes place at this very spot!

After the pier we drove through the Beverly Hills Mansions. Oh my gosh, I cannot believe the kind
of houses their were. We chanced to talk to a foot guard in front of "a realtor's" house, who informed us that Elizabeth Taylor lived right across the street, and Keifer Sutherland was down a few houses... ie: a mile.

Later that night we went to Chevy's for dinner. Boy was it good! And, we finished off the evening by watching "Enemy at the Gates" (edited)... thanks to the persistence of Ryan. And, I have to admit that I really liked it.

Thanks McCooks... and just to let you know, we love Santa Monica!

2nd Anniversary

Well according to what we used to hear, we are no longer newly weds... although the rules keep changing; apparently we have to have kids to no longer be considered newly weds. January 6th was our 2 year anniversary. As tradition would have it we celebrated at "the Benihana." We've gone every year and plan to continue doing so every year.

We do this because on the night of our first kiss... February 7th 2005, Wes and I went to Disneyland and Benihana. We've returned yearly, on our anniversary to commemorate that wonderful night!

This year we were joined by Jaime and Matt, Wes' sister and her husband, who also celebrate their anniversary about a week and a half after ours. We had a fantastic night, and ate ourselves silly. Tony, are cute lil' cook was the best performer we've ever had. He did the best tricks, including the famous onion volcano, and catching 2 shrimp tails (one in his shirt pocket and the other in his hat) at the same time.

Happy New Year

It's 2008! We had a great time bringing in the New Year, and look forward to what 2008 will bring. Last year was full of surprises and new experiences. We got a dog, started new work, and oh ya bought a new house!

On New Years Eve we celebrated at our good friends house, Josh and Erika Bladh. A few other couples joined us, Caleb and Lisa Bladh, the Jorgenson family, and the Bloom family. We had such a good time playing games like: Catch Phrase, Karaoke, and we ate a lot of good food. We toasted in the New Year with sparkling cider, and overall thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
